Session Summary
The Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) General Meeting reported on the progress and future direction of Article 6 implementation under the Paris Agreement. A6IP announced that it supported 7 countries in submitting their Initial Reports(IRs) and strengthened collaboration with the private sector. Japan reported expanding its Joint Crediting Mechanism(JCM) partners to 31 and, notably, the first issuance of ITMOs (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes) with Thailand. Vietnam and Indonesia are accelerating the development of domestic carbon market infrastructure and national registries. Palau and Maldives confirmed they were able to submit their IRs with A6IP technical support. The future focus is the acceleration of capacity building and enhanced transparency. A6IP and partner organizations such as UNFCCC Secretariat and World Bank emphasized the requirement for appropriate disclosure, including Corresponding Adjustments, in the 2026 Biennial Transparency Report (BTR). The private sector (IETA) strongly urged the rapid clarification of foundational elements like domestic policies and registry interoperability to accelerate Article 6 implementation.
