MIDORI∞INFINITY -Deploy GHG Emission Reduction Technologies with Private Sector-

Organizer : Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF)

Co-organizer :

Abstract

MAFF formulated “Initiative for Net-Zero compatible with Food security through INternational expansion of Innovative TechnologY (in short, MIDORI∞INFINITY)” to promote overseas deployment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction technologies, to attract decarbonization investment into the agri-food sector, and to expand markets for agri-food companies engaged in climate-related businesses. To implement this initiative, MAFF established “MIDORI Decarbonization Overseas Deployment Consortium” to promote the creation of decarbonization projects including the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), by facilitating matchmaking between Japanese companies and both domestic and international partners. To advance overseas deployment of GHG emission reduction technologies that contribute to food security, it is essential to foster collaboration and matchmaking between private companies and startups with such technologies and finance, and partners worldwide.
This seminar aims to encourage stakeholders' climate action by introducing success cases of collaboration with the private sector, including those related to the JCM, and sharing good practices and outcomes of decarbonization projects.
