To steadily advance the decarbonization transition in ASEAN and other Asian countries, Japan has undertaken various initiatives: Supporting the formulation of NDCs and long-term strategies using the Asia-Pacific Integrated Model (AIM); Promoting corporate transparency through the Partnership to Transparency in Co-Innovation (PaSTI), including support for introducing GHG measurement and reporting systems; and Assisting in developing Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and GHG inventories to support decarbonization policy formulation.
Building on these efforts, Japan and ASEAN are collaborating to develop the ASEAN-Japan Report on Growing toward Net-Zero as an Input to the Second GST, presenting an Asia-specific model of economic growth through decarbonization and contributing to the outcomes of the second GST at COP33.
This seminar will share Japan-ASEAN cooperation with high-level representatives, invite their participation in preparing the report, and gather views on current GST efforts and future directions. It will also feature presentations from ASEAN countries showcasing notable progress in this fiscal year in advancing decarbonization strategies.
