Achieving the global 1.5°C target requires not only GHG emission reduction measures but also the promotion of sink measures such as forests and blue carbon. In recent years, global interest has grown not only in engineered carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies like DACCS and BECCS but also in sink measures utilizing ecosystems in forests and oceans. International initiatives and cooperation are advancing through various stakeholders including industry, government, academia, and civil society.
This seminar will focus on agriculture, forestry, and blue carbon in Brazil and Japan. Experts from each field will present case studies, followed by a panel discussion to deepen understanding of advancing climate change mitigation through agriculture, forestry, and blue carbon. This seminar aims not only to accelerate collaboration between the two countries but also to expand these efforts to other nations.
