UNEP International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) Ministerial Meeting

Organizer : Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)

Co-organizer : United Nations Environment Programme International Methane Emissions Observatory (UNEP IMEO)

Abstract

As a core implementing partner of the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) – endorsed by more than 155 countries committed to reducing global methane emissions by 30% by 2030 - United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s IMEO provides open, reliable and actionable data to drive ambitious policy and industry action.
In this context, IMEO, with support from Japan, will convene relevant ministers, industry leaders and civil society representatives to showcase the impact of data-driven solutions for methane mitigation and to leverage further support for IMEO’s mission to accelerate global action.
The event will also feature the launch of the updated IMEO Eye on Methane Data Platform, providing authoritative and policy-relevant insights on the world’s methane emissions to support governments, industry and civil society in this crucial climate effort. In addition, the partnership between IMEO and Japan-led initiatives, such as the CLEAN Initiative and GOSAT-GW, will be highlighted.
